Because Less than 50% of veterans in need of mental health services receive them.
Floods are sweeping away homes in Texas. Wildfires are tearing through communities in Los Angeles. Tornadoes have ripped apart neighborhoods in St. Louis.
Across the country, children are facing terrifying disasters—losing their homes, their routines, and sometimes even their sense of safety.
Mental Health Code is prepared to respond with care, expertise, and resources—but we need your help to reach every child affected.
In the aftermath of natural disasters, the devastation runs far deeper than shattered buildings and lost possessions. Emotional distress, anxiety, and grief often strike hardest, especially among children who have lost their sense of stability and security. Trauma can linger long after physical recovery has begun, impacting mental health, relationships, and overall well-being.
Mental Health Code (MHC) is responding now—starting with the catastrophic Texas flooding—by launching an emergency rollout of our Kids C.O.D.E.™ curriculum.
This trauma-informed, story-driven program helps kids process pain while building:
Connection – Establishing safe relationships and a sense of belonging
Observation – Naming emotions and recognizing their internal world
Discovery – Exploring strengths, stories, and self-expression
Empowerment – Rebuilding confidence and stepping into leadership
Without immediate mental health support, trauma can take root, affecting kids’ school, relationships, and long-term well-being.

Kids C.O.D.E.™ curriculum taught in shelters, PAL centers, and camps—empowering kids to heal, cope, and lead
This is our trauma-responsive pathway—a healing model designed to help children rebuild what disaster has shaken: their confidence, sense of safety, emotional awareness, and ability to connect with others. Through trust-based relationships and guided emotional learning, we empower kids not just to recover, but to thrive—restoring hope, resilience, and the inner strength to move forward.
By meeting children where they are emotionally, we help them make sense of their experiences, find words for their feelings, and rediscover joy and a sense of belonging. It’s not just about healing—it’s about helping them lead with courage.
Founded by Kelly Hager, Mental Health Code delivers emotionally intelligent, trauma-informed programs to the frontlines of crisis, where support is most urgent and most often overlooked.
Our Kids C.O.D.E.™ curriculum helps youth reconnect with their emotions, restore confidence, and lead, especially after disaster. It meets children in their pain and gives them language, safety, and the strength to cope.
From trauma to transformation, we show up with tools, care, and heart—helping kids reclaim their stories and their sense of self, even in the aftermath of overwhelming loss.
